01 / ABOUT
QHSS Hackathon is where students stop waiting for permission and start making things.
Hosted by QHSS Hack Club and the Hackathon Committee, we bring together high school builders of every skill level for one unforgettable day of learning, collaboration, and shipping. No grades. No gatekeeping. Just a room full of people who want to see what is possible.

It is a creative sprint where you team up, learn something new, and build a project from scratch. Think less “competition” and more “permission to try.”
02 / THE CREW
QHSS / 2026-27President
Hi guys, my name is Qinghan Cheng. I'm very excited to be the President of Hackathon for the 2026-2027 school year! Let's hope we have a nice year together. Fun fact: I like to draw.
03 / THE FORMAT
The games and event software built by the Hackathon Software department go on display, alongside games from Hack Software and builds from Hack Hardware. It is where the whole club’s semester of work gets seen.
Teams of 2 to 4 build around the semester’s theme in one of four tracks. The build window follows the familiar hackathon format unless the board changes it: around 5 hours.
Every team presents with its code on screen, explains its choices, and answers judge questions. Scores are tallied and prizes go out at the end.
THE FOUR TRACKS
Every team picks one track. Whichever one you choose, your presentation has to explain how the project answers the theme.
The theme is announced at the actual event. Every project must explain how it answers that theme.
Make it playable by a judge in under two minutes, while still connecting clearly to the theme.
Use physical hardware where a microcontroller reads or controls something in the real world. Hack Hardware pods compete here.
Does not fit the other three? Go for it, as long as you can justify how it answers the theme.
JUDGING
Code has to be on screen at some point. Judges score every team out of 100 on the rubric below.
